    St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas inspects one of the unarmed units at the 20th Anniversary celebrations.
    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (SEPTEMBER 8TH 2004)
    – The Independence Fun Run and the Embassy of Venezuela 10K Marathon will be staged this weekend as part of activities to mark the 21st Anniversary of the St. Kitts and Nevis’ Independence.
     
    The Fun Run starts at 10:00 A.M. from the Ferry and Bus Terminal on the Bay Road, Basseterre on Saturday 11th and the 10K Marathon on Sunday 12th from 4:00 P.M. starting and ending at the Venezuelan Institute at Greenlands.
     
    The 21st Anniversary Independence Exhibition will be opened at 9:00 A.M. at the former Kawaja Building on Liverpool Row on September 13th. A panel discussion will take place on ZIZ Radio and Television at 8:00 P.M.
     
    The Annual Prime Minister’s Independence Lecture is scheduled for Wednesday 15th September at the Basseterre High School at 8:00 P.M.
     
    Armed and unarmed units on parade at the Military Parade to mark the 20th Anniversary celebrations of Independence.
    National Heroes Day, September 16th, a public holiday will see the announcement of Special Awards to persons who have made a contribution to the economic, social and political development of St. Kitts and Nevis. The Best Community, Special Recognition and Flag Raising Ceremony are planned also.
     
    The Schools Patriotic Programme and Treat, Independence Calypso & Comedy Acts are scheduled as well as the sale of merchandise on the corner of Princess & Fort Streets.
     
    A Gala Night of Independence is set for September 18th at 7:00 P.M. at the old Treasury Building followed by a Fire Works Display at Port Zante.
     
    The State Service is scheduled for Sunday 19th September (Independence Day), at 6:00 P.M. at the St. George’s Anglican Church. The day will also be observed as a National Day of Prayer.
     
    St. Kitts and Nevis Governor General His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian (c) taking the salute flanked by Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, Colonel Patrick Wallace (r) and then Commissioner of Police, Mr. Calvin Fahie, at last year's Independence Day celebrations.
    St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas will deliver the Independence to the People of the twin-island Federation prior to the traditional Ceremonial Parade at Warner Park at 8:00 A.M.. Armed and unarmed organisations will parade on this the 21st Anniversary of Nationhood. Governor General His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian and Prime Minister Douglas will take the salute.
