Six bills for debate during Friday’s National Assembly

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 9TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Six bills will be debated when the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly meets on Friday 12th August.

     

    Four of the Bills will be introduced and given a First Reading at Friday’s Sitting while two were introduced and given their First Reading at previous sittings.

     

    Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will introduce and have read a first time, the Island Enhancement Fund (Amendment) Bill and the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill.

     

    Minister of Health, Social Services, Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, the Hon. Marcela Liburd will introduce and have read a first time the Solid Waste Management (Amendment) Bill.

     

    The Saint Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (Amendment) Bill will be introduced and read a first time by Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Sen. The Hon. Richard Skerritt.

     

    All those bills will be debated in addition to The Gang (Prohibition and Prevention) Bill, which was introduced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security and given its first reading on June 2nd and The Co-operatives Societies Bill, introduced by Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Agriculture, Marine Resources and Cooperatives and Constituency Empowerment and given its first reading on 17th March.

     

    Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett will introduce and have read a first tike, the Magistrate’s Code of Procedure Act, 2011.
