More of Kassab’s Hardware Store Collapses

Basseterre, St. Kitts: After more rain showers, the entire rear section of Kassab’s Hardware store has collapsed this morning at approximately 11:15. Just last Friday, October 26th, a portion of the building collapsed due to unrelenting rainfall that took place over the previous days.
It is believed that saturated soil at the adjacent lot where construction for the new Social Security building is ongoing has a role to play in these collapses.
Fortunately, no one has been injured on both occassions.
Mr. Samire Kassab, owner of Kassab’s Hardware store and the management of Bertil Audain Construction Company (contracted by Social Security) were unable to give comment concerning the situation.
