Basseterre, St. Kitts (September 10, 2004): The St. Kitts National Youth Council Steering Committee is "Forging ahead with optimism".
This is the theme of a strategic planning meeting which the Committee will hold from Friday 10th - Sunday 12th September at the St. Johnston’s Community Centre.
The meeting aims at developing a strategic plan of action in the way forward for the generalised National Youth Council Steering Committee.
The weekend-long event will review the draft National Youth Council Constitution, conduct asset mapping activities, and discuss avenues for increased teamwork as well as general youth issues.
A committee spokesperson said he was pleased with the level of support being given by the Youth Department of the Ministry of Information Culture, Youth and Sport stating that the secretariat for the event came from that department.
He added that a number of other individuals, departments and businesses were instrumental, including Prime Minister Hon Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, the Department of Social Development, Family Health International, Island Bakery, The Cable and S.L. Horsford &Company Ltd.
Fadil Imo President of the Steering Committee explained that the three- day event will culminate with a very important discussion on time-lines and expectations.
He said the overall objective of the meeting is to get youths refocused and re-energized to go forward in pursuit of answers and actions to address the issues that affect them in an organized manner.
