Norwegian Dawn Makes Inaugural Trip to St. Kitts

(Basseterre; St. Kitts): The Norwegian Dawn which is apart of the Norwegian Cruise Line made its inaugural trip to St. Kitts today, Thursday, Nov. 1 and docked at Port Zante in Basseterre.
Officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture made presentations to the cruise masters and showed their appreciation to the ship officials for visiting our shores.

Permanent Secretary within the ministry, Lloyd Lazaar at a brief ceremony onboard the ship around 11 a.m. said that the visit was very important. He said that he hopes that the hospitality and other tourist attractions our island offers that they will see the significance in coming to our island and visiting once again.
“We hope that your visitors will recognize the importance in the value of what St. Kitts has to offer as a tourism product,” he said.
Although the visit is “one-off” visit, Lazaar said that he hope the situation would change as visitors would have exciting things to say about the island and that during the next cruise season the ship and it’s sister cruises will make more visits to St. Kitts.

Following Lazaar’s words was a presentation of a plaque in appreciation of their visit by Austin Huggins on behalf of the Tourism Authority and Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Haka Svedung one of the officials on the ship said that it was an honour and pleasure for them to visit the island and accepted the plaque on behalf of the crew.
He also presented a plaque to the Tourism Authority for their warm hospitality to the island.

Maurice Harvey, Operations Supervisor at the Shipping Agency for S.L. Horsford agents for the Norwegian Cruise was present and presented a gift to the cruise officials on behalf of his company.
After the brief ceremony media houses and other Tourism Authority officials were taken on a tour of the ship that has a total of 1,086 staff.
The overall length of the ship is 965 feet and can hold a total of 2,224 guests.
There are 13 restaurants onboard, nine bars and lounges, two swimming pools, six hot tubs, a cinema and auditorium and more.
The cruise ship left Port Zante at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
