    Forbes and Brown as Police whisk them out of the High Court
    {Charlestown; Nevis: November 5th, 2007}
    Nevis Resident Judge, Her Ladyship, Justice Ianthea Octave, this morning told members of the Jury that only a judge and not a doctor could give a juror permission to be absent from court.

    Her Ladyship was speaking shortly after the official opening of the Nevis High Court criminal assizes. She said a cross-section of the Jury have presented to the court doctors’ leave certificates which she said she would scrutinise.

    “Half of members of the Jury are begging to be excused. Only a Judge can excuse a Jury. A doctor cannot,” Justice Octave said. After her stern caution to the members of the Jury, she asked them to leave and report back tomorrow morning when High Court sits again.

    Lawton Forbes of Hamilton and Sean Brown of Cotton Ground were brought to court this morning but no trials took place. High Court resumes tomorrow morning.
