    (Basseterre; St. Kitts):
Although a temporary ban has been placed on certain fireworks and explosives Kittitians are still taking advantage of the annual tradition.

According to a press release recently from the Royal St. Kitts Police Force a temporary ban has been placed on fireworks, more specifically the type of fireworks that gives an explosion effect, such as bombs of all sizes, firecrackers and so on.

The release went on to say that Starlight, whistling rockets and other non-explosion type fireworks are permitted.

The public is reminded that the purpose of the ban is to remove the cover that some persons use to discharge illegal firearms in public places.

However, today, Monday, November 5, which is traditionally known as Guy Fawkes Day, Kittitians are taking advantage of the tradition as they are purchasing fireworks for their children.

On Central Street, Jucka Bombs and Fireworks displayed varied types of fireworks that they are accustomed of selling each year.

Ajahlon, one of the sellers from Jucka’s Bombs and Fireworks said that they wanted to help out the kids who look forward to the day and the fireworks.
Ajahlon said that not being able to sell the bombs that the Police has banned is somewhat hampering the business but said that they are following the rules and hope that their fireworks will bring excitement to those that buy from them.

A police officer from the force told SKNVibes.com that they have already advised the persons who sell the fireworks what type of fireworks are permitted.~~Adz:Right~~

“People who are selling these fireworks know what to sell, it is an offence to sell illegal fireworks and the person or persons caught doing such will be prosecuted,” he said. “But the general public will have to make a report on these people who they see using or selling them.”

What is Guy Fawkes All About?
Guy Fawkes Night (traditionally known as Bonfire Night or Tamboule) is an annual celebration every evening on the 5th of November mainly in the United Kingdom, but also in former British colonies.

It celebrates the stopping of the Gunpowder Plot in which a group of Catholic conspirators, led by Robert Catesby, and including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Palace of Westminster on the evening of November 5th, 1605, the king and his parliament were within its walls. The conspirators were later tortured and executed. Thus on the 5th of November it is a rejoicing of the governments ability to protect its people.
