St. Kitts and Nevis' Prime Minister and Political Leader of the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas addressing the congregation at the Lighthouse Baptist Church
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 6TH 2007 (CUOPM) – The governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party has reiterated its commitment to sustain the movement of positive change that has been occurring throughout the twin-island Federation.

Speaking briefly during a Thanksgiving Service at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Crab Hill, Sandy Point, in celebration of the Third Anniversary of the Third Term of his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Government, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas gave a re-assurance of his Administration’s promise to improve the quality of life in the Federation, which he added is an ongoing national goal on which “we shall not falter with the strength and guidance of the Almighty God.”

Stating that the Labour Party is “eternally grateful to the citizens of the nation who have expressed their confidence in our team by returning us victorious at the polls in 2004,” Dr. Douglas said that it is a charge “we hold very close to our hearts and as a Government, we take very, very seriously, as we work in the best interest, not on behalf of some of the people of this country, but on behalf of all the people of this nation.”

Dr. Douglas noted that the presence of his Cabinet Ministers at the Service “provides us the opportunity to re-dedicate ourselves and renew our commitment before the Almighty for the continued quest to improve the quality of life of all the people of this country.”~~Adz:Right~~

The Prime Minister Douglas, who is also the National Political Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, noted that the nature of politics is such that everyone has great expectations, everyone has high ideals, and certainly a need for positive change in their daily lives.

He told the congregation which included His Excellency the Governor General, Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, Cabinet Ministers and the rank and file of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party and the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union, that one has to remember that they live in a world where tremendous global influences interplay in such manner that “we must prioritise our own national agenda.”

Stating that every expectation cannot be fulfilled, Prime Minister Douglas gave the assurance to all citizens and residents that “our promise to improve the quality of life in the Federation is an ongoing national goal on which we shall not falter with the strength and guidance of the Almighty God.”

Dr. Douglas also assured citizens that although there are important fiscal challenges, the social support services for the children and the elderly would not be compromised.
