    Prime Minister Patrick Manning
    (Port-of-Spain)
--- In a whopping victory the People’s National Movement (PNM) led by Prime Minster Patrick Manning defeated the United Congress Movement (UNC) and the Congress of the People (COP) in the polls on Monday.

The winning party gained a total of 26 electoral seats including but not limited to San Fernando East, San Fernando West, Barataria/San Juan, St. Joseph, La Brea, Tobago East, Tobago West, Laventille East, Laventille West, La Horquetta/ Talparo, Fyzabad, Mayaro, Tabaquite and Toco/Sangre Grande.

In opposition the UNC amassed a total of 15 seats including but not limited to St. Augustine, Siparia, Chaguanas East, Chaguanas West, Couva North and Couva South. Unfortunately, the Congress of the People (COP) was unsuccessful in gaining electoral seats however; they made a sizeable impact upon the ballad numbers.

In response to the loss leader of the COP Winston Dookeran gracefully accepted defeat and congratulated both the PNM and UNC on their respective victories.

“Trinidad and Tobago is obviously not ready for a change. We thank everyone for their prayers for us and we know that they are disappointed and we know that they know that this isn’t what is best for the country. ~~Adz:Right~~

“However, I know the young people will continue to keep us around. I take this opportunity to congratulate the PNM and UNC respectively on their victories. All our candidates made a tremendous sacrifice. I thank them all and I tell them have faith because we know that this is our country even though it is not what we would like it to be”, said Dookeran in response to the defeat.
