Khyla Releases First Original Single

Press Release

(Monday, August 15th, 2011): She grew up listening to all the popular genres of music and as some usually say “born into it” as her parents once operated Music Unlimited, a music store in her native St. Kitts.

Her father Prince A U Brown a former Road March King and two time calypso finalist is also a music producer, a trained recording engineer and owner of Kyss102.5FM the leading music radio station in the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. So being surrounded by music all her life, it was inevitable that Khyla Sharnell Brown would embrace the arts.

The sixteen year old student of the Basseterre High School who is about to enter fifth form and wants to be a Cosmetologist is this week visiting radio stations in the federation to drop (release) her first original Dancehall track entitled “Love Will Never Die (Solid As A Rock)”.

The track speaks of an enduring love that is shatter proof, unbreakable and everlasting.  She says “I am very excited about this song. Unlike most Dancehall songs that’s rap laced, in this song I am able to showcase my voice. I am a singer by nature and this song is not just about an awesome beat. My talent as a singer is on display in a highly emotional song.”

The song was written and produced by A U Brown in his recently relaunched Brown’s Mixing Lab Recording Studio, located in Sandy Point, St. Kitts, which once produced some of the best recordings ever produced locally.

Besides the emotional nature of the lyrics and the power in Khyla’s vocals “Love Will Never Die” has a sweet melody line and contains a sample of Ashford and Simpsons 70’s hit “Solid and a Rock.”  This song is not just for listening but it is groovy and energetic enough to get you gyrating, stamping your feet, shaking your head or shaking your leg.

Also a trained dancer, Khyla professes to love just about every song that sounds good. Genre doesn’t matter, she is willing to sing just about any style of music and has proved capable of doing so, with her many performances at various events on the island.

She certainly has the vocal range for R&B or pop ballads which she performs regularly and usually to thunderous applauses and or standing ovations. But “The reggae genre is my favorite,” she told WINN FM’s G-Cue in a recent interview.

“Love Will Never Die” comes on the heels of her very first release a little over three weeks ago.  Then she gave radio audiences a teaser of her enormous talent when she dropped the reggae cover of Alicia Keys’ “Distance and Time.”

Some radio stations will be airing her version of the Alicia Keys ballad for the first time this week as the teaser was only released to a selected number of the federation’s renowned Disc Jockeys.

“Love Will Never Die” was first released on KYSS102.5FM on the ‘Saturday Lime’ with the Prince. On Monday, the number one DJ at ZIZ radio, Chico, was given the opportunity to air to his audience Khyla’s original track, which Chico said is “Definitely a hit…mad skills!” His listeners endorsed his views with many calling into his show congratulating the teenager.

On Tuesday, Khyla will grace Freedom FM’s Morning Express with the famous Sugar Bowl, so his listeners can feel the awesome power of this young talented Sandy Pointer. While there, she will also release “Distance And Time” for the first time, as Freedom was not among the stations that received the initial release.

She returns to WINN FM with G-Cue on Wednesday afternoon and Nevis’ Choice FM later in the week.
