    War Memorial Service Held In Nevis

    {Charlestown, Sunday, November 11th, 2007} Yesterday morning Nevisians remembered those who gave their lives during the First and Second World Wars.
     
    A solemn ceremony was held at the War Memorial Square, Charlestown, Nevis in memory of the men of St. Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla who lost their lives during the 1914-18 war and 1939-45. 
     
    The men who lost their lives in 1914-18 were Joseph Cephus, James Daniel, Arthur Dickenson, Donalds Edwards, M.C. H.D. Edwards, D.S.O., John Foreman, Edmund ~~Adz:Right~~Gordon, H. Herbert Jones, James L.E.R. Lake, Richard White, Joseph Lewis, Joseph McKoy, Edward Mills, Hubert Mitchell, Donald Patrice, Edward Hope Ross, Horace Veir, Ivor Wakefield, Williams C. Wattley and Robert Woolward.
     
    Those who gave their lives in the second War of 1939-45 were J.E. Alves, D.F.M., Peter Berkley, Sydney Delisle, A.E. Farara, D.F.C.D.F.M. and Basil Veira, D.F.C.
     
    Part of the ceremony included a match by a cross-section of Nevis’ Uniformed bodies and lying of wreaths. 
     
    Those who witnessed the ceremony included His honour, the Deputy Governor-General, Eustace John; the Premier of Nevis, Joseph Parry; the Leader of Opposition in Nevis, Vance Amory; Ex-Servicemen; the Superintendent of Police, Joseph Liburd; The Officer Commanding the Cadet Corps; government officials and members of the public.
     

    Also present were Uniformed Bodies - Nurses, Red Cross, Girl Guides, Nevis Air and Sea Port Authority, Nevis Sixth Form College, Secondary and Primary Schools.
