(LONDON, GBR) - Britain's unemployment rate grew to 7.9 percent in the three months to the end of June from 7.7 percent for the quarter ending in May, official data showed on Wednesday.
Market expectations had been for an unchanged reading, according to economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires.
The Office for National Statistics added that the number of unemployed in Britain rose by 38,000 to 2.49 million people in the three months to the end of June.
