Stakeholders in the tourism sector had quite a busy day on Monday, November 12th, owing to port calls by three cruise ships.

The Crown Princess, the Ocean Village and Carnival Miracle, brought over 7000 cruise passengers to the island, who spent the time taking island tours, visiting the beaches, souvenir shopping and just enjoying the hospitality offered.

The week started with the coming of the Braemar with over 800 passengers and will conclude with the Queen Mary 2, on the 14th.

The Aurora, with a capacity of 1950 passengers is visiting the island today, November 13th.

According to Ms. Unoma Allen, Corporate Communications Manager of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, this week is testimony to the drive toward improving island appeal to cruise passengers and also highlights the success of the drive.
She noted that the St. Kitts tourism product has unlimited potential and her organization is exploiting every possible avenue to realize the full potential.

~~Adz:Left~~An estimated 215 cruise ships, bringing over 400,000 passengers, are expected for this cruise tourism season.

In addition, the Carnival Destiny, with a capacity of 2642 passengers, is expected to be making calls to island, once per week up until September 25th, 2008.

The airline industry is also complementing the cruise sector as American Airlines will commence direct flights from New York’s JFK International on November 18th and Delta Airlines is expected to start direct flights from Atlanta, in February of next year.
