~~Adz:Left~~ (Port-of-Spain) --- Congress of the People (COP) candidate Marlene Coudray is currently facing disciplinary charges by the Statutory Authorities Service Commission (SASC) after contesting a seat in the general election without resigning her position as the Chief Executive Officer at the San Fernando City Corporation.

According to the Statutory Authorities Act an SASC official may not declare him/herself to be a candidate or to be nominated a candidate at an election or to serve in the House of Representatives, a Municipal Council or a County Council. Further, according to the Representation of the People Act an officer who contravenes this regulation is guilty of misconduct and shall be liable to summary dismissal.

While Coudray vied for the San Fernando West seat she was defeated by People’s National Movement (PNM) representative Junia Regrello who has been appointed to the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Culture, Community Development and Gender Affairs.

Reports reaching SKNVibes.com  indicate that Ms. Coudray has held the position of Chief Executive Officer at the San Fernando City Corporation for the past 15 years and is due to retire in 5 years.
