    Concessions granted for solar photovoltaic panels, small locally-owned businesses

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 14TH 2007 (CUOPM)
    – Government has given concessions is respect of the importation of solar photovoltaic panels to be used for renewable energy generation.
     
    Minister of Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty, said that in keeping with government’s policy to encourage and support the development of small locally-owned businesses, Cabinet, under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, has approved duty concessions for a number of local businesses.
     
    “Services-related and manufacturing businesses were represented among those businesses receiving concessions,” said Minister Carty, who also noted that concessions have been given in respect of the importation of solar photovoltaic panels to be used for renewable energy generation.
     
    “This is in line with government’s new policy to facilitate investment in renewable energy and energy conservation technologies,” he said.~~Adz:Right~~
