St. Kitts Entertainment Review (August 29th 2011)

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – “WHAT a party”, is what some people are saying after having the time of their life at chosen events over the weekend - which definitely made up for the previous weekend spoiled by the passing storm –Irene.

On Friday, the venue on Fort Street known as Comfort Zone saw small crowds intermittingly while some persons socialized on the outside porch, drinking and enjoying the sounds of DJ Cool.

The Frigate Bay Strip was a bit on the quiet side at first until sometime around 1:00 a.m. when people started crowding bars like Ziggy’s and Lava Ground.

The Bamboo Lounge was also rolling in patrons slowly; some were enjoying games of pool while CJ the DJ mixed up a variety of music with a different style.

On Saturday at Ma Pau the iRep SKN launch party which was scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. was off to late start and attendance was sparse.

When SKNVibes left the venue sometime around 11:00 p.m. and returned just after 1:00 a.m. there was still not much happening.

Meanwhile, Infamus’s Summer Splash at the Green Valley Pub in Cayon was stacking up a line on the outside when SKNVibes reached the venue.

Many said they enjoyed the singer’s party which also acted as a launch for the release of his new LP ‘Chasing The Dream’.

According to Infamus, it is unbelievable how far he has come but he gives thanks that he was blessed with a talent to touch lives and make someone’s day.

The event, at the end of the night, saw a successful turnout and came to an end shortly before 7:00 a.m.

In Frigate Bay at the Sugars Complex men were dressed to kill while many females’ dresses were dubbed as sexy and tempting; many were in short dresses and heels savouring the moment with a quick shot on the photo backdrop.

Stepping into the Hang Over Party, one felt a bit tense at first as the dance floor was split in two –half and half with some patrons just standing around observing each other, but Sister Senia changed the mood after she began with the ‘passa passa’ then females began to ‘walk out’ and show off their whining skills.

At one point the dance floor got completely empty when the Nu Vybes Band started heating things up on the outside and patrons then gathered outside for the ‘Crowd Check’.

Sometime around 5:00 a.m. police stopped the party and many patrons began expressing their dissatisfaction, complaining that there were no incidents to cause their intervention.

After about ten minutes of negotiations between the promoters and the police, the latter decided to let the DJs continue playing a while longer but warned them to keep the music volume to a certain level. However patrons had already begun to leave, therefore the event ended shortly after that.

On Sunday, it was to the Frigate Bay Strip for some persons and also to Dieppe Bay for the
action down at Coopers to bring the weekend to an end.
