BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 27TH 2007 (CUOPM)
    – Construction continues on the Ocean’s Edge Resort at Frigate Bay.

Phase One which began in June this year will see the construction of 16 hillside apartments which will be complete by September 2008. Phase two is planned to start in late 2007 and will include the remaining accommodation units and amenities. Resort completion is planned for the end of 2009.

Ocean's Edge Resort comprises 32 one bedroom beachfront apartments, 16 two-bedroom beachfront homes, 48 semi-detached garden cottages, 66 two-bedroom hillside apartments and 23 hilltop plots for private, bespoke villas.

According to the new website www.oceansedgestkitts.com building height for the apartments will be restricted to two floors and most properties will have uninterrupted ocean views. The first properties will be complete by mid-2008 with resort completion planned for December 2009. A leading Caribbean resort operator will be appointed to manage Ocean's Edge and all rentals on behalf of the owners. Ocean’s Edge has been accepted into the Green Globe Benchmarking program.

Four beachfront apartment buildings, each housing 4 two-bedroom duplex apartments, will be built within yards of the beach offering great ocean views. These two bedroom units will offer unbeatable ocean views from the lounge and terrace located on the upper floor. The bedrooms will be located on the lower floor with easy access to the clubhouse, beachfront restaurant and the resort's main swimming pool.~~Adz:Right~~

The 32 one bedroom beachfront apartments will also be built within yards of the beach with great ocean views. There will be 8 apartments in each building with four units on each floor.

Under the plan for the garden cottage apartments, there will be 48 large, semi-detached, duplex properties that will offer two ensuite bedrooms located on the ground floor with a generous open plan living space located on the upper floor. They will be set back from the ocean in beautifully landscaped, tropical gardens in close proximity to the health & fitness centre and tennis courts. The small number of cottages that share each pool (10) offers added privacy and a safe environment for young families.

Built along the hillside will be a series of apartment buildings, each housing two 2-bedroom units, one on each floor. Each of these 66 spacious apartments will have a private plunge pool and a broad terrace for luxurious outdoor living. This elevated hillside position affords panoramic ocean, golf and mountain views from both the upper and lower units.

The 23 villa plots are located on the resort’s highest ground offering some of the most breathtaking views on the island with some plots commanding views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. With a choice of three or four bedrooms, each villa will feature an extensive terrace, an infinity pool and a stunning panorama of ocean and coastal views from an altitude of up to 300 feet above sea level.

The programme is under the Federation’s Economic Citizenship Programme which entitles persons that make a minimum investment of US$350,000 in the island in an approved project to be entitled to apply for Citizenship in St. Kitts and Nevis.  Ocean’s Edge Resort is among the approved projects.

It is proposed that Elite Island Resorts will administer and manage any property rentals on the resort. In exchange for a share of rental revenue Elite will market the resort, take reservations, operate the front desk, maintain the properties and provide the services which guests expect such as housekeeping, concierge and catering. After deductions for management and marketing costs, any net rental income for each property will be paid to its owner at regular intervals. The exact structure of the rental scheme is to be confirmed by the resort operator. Owners can use their properties themselves as often as they like.
