Basseterre, St. Kitts (September 29, 2004): A young man committed to the development of the Caribbean has been commended for his loyalty to the region.

Javed Hughes was among students who left the Federation earlier today to pursue studies in Cuba.

According to Hughes’ spiritual father, he has never been a victim of peer pressure. "He sets goals for himself and despite challenges and temptations, achieves them in a manner that falls in line with his moral and ethical convictions. He has never felt pressured to fit in with anyone." He said

It was revealed that Hughes wants to become a Fish Farmer who will supply the Caribbean’s tourist industries with fresh fish. Although he was schooled in the United States, he opted to study in the Caribbean declining numerous U.S. Scholarships with the intention of pursuing studies in a field which would equip him to serve his nation.
