{Charlestown; Nevis} Nevis based CHOICE FM celebrated its second anniversary last Saturday (November 24th).

According to the station’s manager, Allison Guilbert, the community radio station focuses on interactive life transforming programs ensuring that the ‘audience’ is engaged in ways that  will advance the advancement of the community.

“CHOICE Community Radio programming promotes and reflects local culture, character and identity and assists in creating a diversity of voices and opinions encouraging individual expression through several different daily and weekly programs, the majority presented by volunteer hosts.

“CHOICE is on-air 24 hours and live on the internet connecting the island with thousands of Nevisians and Kittitians living abroad. Live coverage of various public and private events serve to keep everyone informed as to what is happening at home. (The last election registered approximately 2500 listeners on-line according to webmaster: SKN Vibes.com).”~~Adz:Right~~

Talk programs are interspersed with an eclectic music mix of local artists, gospel, Caribbean, reggae, instrumental, calypso, soca, soul, oldies, country-western, Spanish and r & b.

Two special events have been hosted by CHOICE:  Sister C’s Oldies Dance, a benefit held for Special Olympics (supported by TDC Nevis-General Manager, Mr. Ernie France and Carib Breweries Nevis manager, Mr. Benny Hodge) and a Valentine’s Day Dinner & Dance in conjunction with Nite Moves Garden Bar & Grill.

“Currently, a membership drive is being conducted to raise funds to enable CHOICE to continue to function as an independent voice, - keeping our ‘talk’ open, frank and honest without being solely dependent on advertisers or others of influence,” Guilbert said.
