    Two shooting incidents in less than 12 hours; One man protest against crime and violence

    Mr. Washington Archibald protesting in front of Government Headquarters
    {Basseterre; St. Kitts}
    As if to show blatant disregard and make mockery of the new measures being imposed by the Ministry of National Security, to curb incidents of crime and violence in the Federation, an unknown
    gunman(men) opened fire on a young man in Carty Alley, New Town, yesterday morning, November 29th.

    According to informed sources, the victim was Sherlon Cannonier and he received multiple gun shot wounds about his body. He was admitted to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, to be treated for his wounds.

    Incidentally, there were reports of another shooting incident at Market Street, Basseterre, around midnight, November 28th, where a masked man chased two young men through the area. Several rounds were fired at the young men but there were no reports of any injuries.

    Interestingly, shortly after the incident yesterday morning, Mr. Washington Archibald, a well known personality, who is associated with Project Strong, staged a one man protest in front of Government Headquarters, to denounce the recent spate of criminal activity.

    “The young men are involved in drastic crimes so the Security Forces need to take drastic measures to counter,” he noted.

    “They need to outlaw gangs and round up these young men,” Archibald added.

    He noted that the Security Forces need to round up the young deviants for a one or two year period and get them involved in a continuous education programme, as it is because they are educationally challenged why they are behaving rebelliously.

    In addition to this educational programme, Archibald also said that the deviants should be made to plant trees, take care of the elderly at the “poor house” etc. as these activities would help to instill values within the youths.

    One of Archibald’s placard read “We fraid de gunman dem!!!??? Please do something!”

    In addition to his placards, Archibald also had his Bible.

    Just the other day, Wednesday, Minister of National Security, Hon. G.A. Dwyer Astaphan, held a press conference to denounce crime and violence.
