    Defence Attorney, Chesley Hamilton
    Basseterre, St. Kitts:
Defence Lawyer and Chairman of the People’s Action Movement, Chesley Hamilton, has strongly denied allegations that he shelters alleged criminals.

An irate Hamilton, in an interview with SKNVibes.com on Thursday afternoon, November 29th, said he was very disturbed about the allegations, which surfaced on a popular Yahoo Group forum.

“I strongly deny the claims made by the person(s) who are insinuating that I am sheltering criminals,” Hamilton stated.

“Additionally, it is my professional responsibility, as an officer of the Court, to assist the Police in getting alleged criminals off the streets,” he added.

Hamilton said he was extremely disappointed that people would stoop to such a level to soil his name. He noted that if such is the response from elements of society when an effort is being made to assist the Police, people will be hesitant to assist the lawmen.

He further explained that one of the two men who turned themselves over to the Police yesterday afternoon (Thursday), Denzil ‘Para’ Williams, has been his client since 2002.

He went on to say that Williams called him and told him that he heard that there was a warrant out for his arrest and he wanted Hamilton to verify what was going on.

The Lawyer then touched based with the Police and confirmed the warrant. After, Williams said he was going to get Berry and they would turn themselves over to the Police.

Just about midday on Thursday, Hamilton walked the two wanted young men to the Basseterre Police Station, where they were served with warrants of arrest. ~~Adz:Right~~

“The young man is my client! He has been my client for years,” Hamilton stated.

Hamilton then produced a copy of the document, and said it was a shame that people should be thinking at such low levels when crime is a national issue and a concerted effort from every front is needed.

“Crime is not political joke. It is a serious issue,” he concluded.

    The document Hamilton produced reads:

“What's the story on word coming out of Basseterre that PAM's Chairman has been sheltering two wanted criminals?

Would seem that pressure was brought on PAM's Chairman by the Police and as a result he turned them in earlier today.

Can anyone confirm whether Chesley Hamilton was sheltering the two wanted men (Berry and Williams)?”
