Yet another shooting in Newtown!

Basseterre, St. Kitts: Even though the Police arrested thirteen young men on Thursday, November 29th, on suspicion of shooting, in connection with a recent spate of gun related incidents, the Police had to respond to another shooting incident on Friday night, November 30th, just before mid night, in the George Street area of New Town.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the barrage of bullets.
Incidentally, the shots were fired in the same vicinity where a young man, Damian Dias, was gunned down, just a few days before, on November 26th.
A Nissan Pathfinder jeep, which was parked in the area, was damaged by apparent errant shots.

One bullet penetrated the front wind screen of the vehicle and exited through the rear glass, shattering it. The front tyre, on the driver’s side, was also damaged during the attack.
According to Mr. Filson Benjamin, the driver of the Pathfinder jeep, PA 3476, he parked the vehicle directly outside his house and retired for the night.
At around 11:30 p.m. he heard a number of shots being fired but he did not look outside because of concern for his safety.

Benjamin related that it was when the Police came to investigate the shooting incident that they notified him that his vehicle was “shot up”.
The Security Forces have stepped up their tactics to combat crime and violence in the Federation. They have also called on the general public to support them in their operation.
