(New York, USA) - Venus Williams, forced out of the US Open by illness, took to Twitter on Sunday to thank fans for their good wishes and said she hoped to be back on court soon.
"Thank you everyone for all your well wishes! It's good to have support! Looking forward to getting better and back on tour!" the seven-time Grand Slam champion said on the social networking site.
When she withdrew before her second-round match, the 31-year-old Williams revealed she has been diagnosed with the auto-immune disorder Sjogren's Syndrome.
She said the condition, in which the body's immune system attacks its own healthy tissues, can cause fatigue and joint pain among other symptoms.
However, with a correct diagnosis she expected to manage her health and return to tennis.
"Thank you 4 sharing all your sjogrens & auto immune stories w/me," Williams tweeted. "Feels good to know I'm not alone! feel better to you and your loved ones!"
