Young man dead; found hanging from tree

Basseterre, St. Kitts - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are investigating the discovery of a body, in Key’s Village, close to the “Four Mile” area, this morning, December 5th.Unconfirmed reports indicate that the dead man is Joseph Berkley, commonly known as “Hookie”, from the same area.
The informed source also stated that the young man was found hanging from a tree on a yellow rope, which seemed brand new.
Sources noted that a brother of the deceased had told some other relatives and close friends that Berkley was not seen since Friday, November 30th, which was very unusual.
The sources further stated that several searches were carried out by friends and family around the Key’s 
Village area, but he was not found.
However, the brother of the deceased noticed a stench coming from amongst the trees on the nearby hillside, late last night, Tuesday 4th, and the Police were notified.
Owing to the lateness of the time when the stench was realized, the search had to be conducted this morning. The Police arrived on the scene about 6:30 a.m.
It was during this search that the body was discovered. It was already in a state of decomposition.
Investigations are going on to determine the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
