BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A new pageant is in the making and is being set for (Oct.1) at Carnival Village. The inaugural Miss St Kitts Nevis Caraibes Hibiscus Model Pageant is being hosted by a local organising committee along with Pandas Entertainment.

Five delegates from around St. Kitts will compete for the title and a chance to represent the Federation in December in St. Martin.

The contestants who were selected through an application process are: Abigail Liburd of Conaree, Katherina Davis of Molineux, Raisa Wattley-Bertie of Cayon, Alsanarda Hanley of Basseterre and Elvisia Glasgow of St. Paul’s Village.

The fabulous five will hit the stage in five segments: My Island Promotional Speech, where each contestant will have to invite people to rediscover St. Kitts in a new way and market the island as an ideal destination.

According to Gloria Esdaille, Pageant Director and Franchise Owner, the Speech would also capture the current tourism theme ‘Follow Your Heart…to St. Kitts- Nevis’.

That segment will then be followed by Creative Swimwear, Traditional Swimwear by local Designer Sanara Bussue, and Evening Wear featuring a number of top local Designers/Dress Makers capped off by the Interview segment.

The Pageant Director indicated that they have hopes of making the pageant an annual one in the event that sponsors come on board.

She also stated that she is uncertain of the number of countries that would compete in St. Martin but added that is it usually over 20.

Esdaille stressed that the Miss St Kitts Nevis Caraibes Hibiscus Model Pageant would have an island feel and be based around tourism.

The ladies will be taking part in a number of promotional events leading up to the pageant which will include a Bar Hopping Extravaganza on September 18, around the island as well as showcasing their modelling skills at Shiggidy Shack at the Launch Party and Fashion Show on Thursday (Sep. 15) at 8:00p.m. sharp.
