Seventh-Day Adventist Primary School successfully reopens!

SDA Students in assembly
Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, September 8th 2011 - The commencement of the new 2011-2012 school year, created a hub of excitement for staff, parents and children of the St. Kitts Seventh-day Adventist Primary School. At approximately 8:00 a.m., the staff was lifted on a spiritual plane by the Word of God which was presented by Pastor Kay White, Pastor of District II of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the new Chairperson of the Seventh-day Adventist School Board. Immediately following this exercise, the zeal of the morning was further evident in the general worship session conducted by Principal, Yvette Blanchette and Mr. Davin Scarborough, teacher of Grade 4.

Under the huge green, circular umbrella tree, eruptions of voices were heard by the entire school populace as they chanted their motto: “Nihil Nisi Optimum – Nothing But The Best!” Songs of praise and worship were sung joyfully by the 310 students and over 100 parents who were present. A powerful prayer of blessing and consecration was vocalized by Pastor White. Laughter and applause were continually heard as the principal introduced her staff and showered them with the appropriate accolades. This grand introduction certainly injected life and energy into the teachers returning from a long summer break. Parents were challenged, students and staff were charged to unearth and maximize their God-given potential to foster a spirit of camaraderie and unity.

While the seasoned students dispersed quickly to their classes, kindergarteners were then instructed to follow their teachers to their classrooms.  It was profoundly delightful to observe what can be dubbed as a first-class initiation activity for these new pupils in the hall of academia. An indispensible kit consisting of an eraser, sharpener, and pencils, along with an inflated balloon was ceremoniously handed over to each beginner, as a symbolic gesture that work and play will be intimately interwoven during the teaching, learning experience.

The entire atmosphere indisputably made the atmosphere homely, but academically stimulating. Additionally, the manicured lawn, the orderly dumpsters, the immaculately clean classrooms, coupled with the heavenly music pulsating softly through the four connected speakers on the corridors, set the right ambience conducive to learning. Indeed, a heavenly, Christ-like atmosphere permeated the school. I am fully confident, that under Christ, the Master Teacher, working in tandem with the administrators and staff personnel, this school, the St. Kitts Seventh-day Adventist Primary School will soar to unfathomable, academic and spiritual heights.
