CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – “I am here to support you…I am all about officer safety. If you are right I will support you 100 percent, but if you are wrong you will be investigated and dealt with according to the punishments laid down in the policy.”

This is one of the many statements made by the newly-appointed Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), Celvin ‘CG’ Walwyn, in his address to members of the Nevis Division on Wednesday (Sept. 7) during an official visit to all police stations on that island.

According to a police press release, it was Commissioner Walwyn’s first official visit to Nevis and he was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Stafford Liburd, Assistant Commissioners Ian Queeley and Joseph Richard, Fingerprint and Forensic expert Lieutenant Ancil Alexander and his newly-appointed Staff Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson.

Speaking to the rank and file, in what is termed the Commissioner’s Lecture, Walwyn impacted them with his vast experience in and knowledge of law enforcement and made it unequivocally clear that he is in the Federation to take the organisation to a next level.

The Commissioner told his subordinates that he is a stickler for policy and admonished them to adhere to the policy guidelines and laws governing the RSCNPF.

He declared that he is here to help raise the morale of the force’s members, to assist in restoring public trust and confidence in the police and that he would hold himself responsible to the policy and lead by example.

On completion of his visit to the various stations, Commissioner Walwyn paid a courtesy call on the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry.

The visit concluded with the Commissioner and his delegation being treated to a sumptuous lunch at the Ouali Beach Restaurant which was hosted by the Division’s Commander, Acting Superintendent Hilroy Brandy.
