    Basseterre, St. Kitts:
A large cross-section of the corporate community turned out to welcome Caraibes Import into the business environment of St Kitts and Nevis, during a launch ceremony this morning, December 14th, at the company’s base at the Caleb Azariah Paul Southwell Industrial Park. Friday morning at around 10:00am (14 Dec 2007).

In attendance were Sir Cuthbert M Sebastian-Governor General, Hon. Rupert Herbert, Hon. Earl Asim Martin, Hon. Timothy Harris, various subdivision managers of TDC, representatives of other businesses in the surrounds of the location of the new business place like Richardson’s Enterprises, OD Brisbane etc.

Mr. Ian Ferguson, one of the local Directors, gave a brief overview of the company.

He noted that the project began as City Drug Holdings (CDH).  They tried to identify businesses that could be operated out of the City Plaza- the buildings

previously occupied by the City Drug Store on Fort Street and Rosemary Lane.

They agreed upon opening a home decor store, but quickly realised that storage space and parking, would become an issue if it were to be housed in town.

They approached Mr. Vernon Fleming in an effort to buy his commercial property (located at CAP Southwell Industrial Site just opposite TDC Automotive Division) and Mr. Fleming agreed to the sale. Thus, Caraibes Imports St Kitts got a place to call home.

Mr Ian Ferguson also expressed thanks for the able support of the local team during the developmental stages of Caraibes Imports.

The team includes Mr. Paul “Fergie” Ferguson, who designed the building and managed the project;  Mr Errol Douglas , the Project Consultant Engineer; Mr Trevor Richards,  the building contractor, Mr Donley Greaux,  the electrician; Caribbean Security Systems; Mrs Dezley Benjamin-Herbert , Store Manager and Dexter Fahie, who both performed nothing short of a miracle in order to get the store organized  for the opening today (14 Dec 2007).

Also addressing the audience was Hon Timothy Harris Min of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

In his discourse Mr Harris expressed his faith in the country, because the people have faith in themselves.  He saluted persons he thought were excellent business icons such as Scott Caines, Damion Hobson, Lincoln Pemberton and Gregory Gilbert, and said that the very essence of industry and commerce were embodied by these individuals.  ~~Adz:Left~~

Minister Harris went on to say that the success of these people should send a remarkable signal to our communities and more importantly our youth that the realm of possibility and prosperity lies within reach.

In his closing sentiments, Minister Harris said he was very pleased with the opening of Caraibes Imports for two important reasons- competitiveness and choice.  He noted that when there are not enough players in the market consumers/customers do not have as much choices as they ought to have.

Caraibes Imports St Kitts expects to be able to unveil a small selection of furniture on the 2nd floor of its outlet located at C.A.P Southwell Industrial Park by or before Christmas 2007.

The owners of the company are Mr Jocelyn Eduard from Guadeloupe (franchise owner), Mr Carl Provenzal from Caraibes Imports Anguilla, and from St. Kitts Mr Paul Ferguson, Mr Sherwin Rey and Mr Ian Ferguson.  The Caraibes Import Franchise operates a total of nine stores between, Guadeloupe, Martinique and French St. Martin.

The Governor General, His Excellency Sir Cuthbert Sebastian cut the ribbon to ceremoniously open the new company.
