Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 08, 2004): Marketing Manager to the UK/Europe and the Southern Caribbean Mr. Randolph Hamilton greatly impressed the Barbados Tourism Authorities during the re-Discover the Caribbean Show at the Sherbourne Conference Centre, Barbados.
Based at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Mr. Hamilton represented the Federation well at the week-end Caribbean Show where he was able to meet Barbados Minister of Tourism Honourable Noel Lynch.
During an interview with Business Monday which was published by the Barbados Advocate, Mr. Hamilton is quoted as stating that among other factors, the opening of the St. Kitts Marriot Resort and Royal Beach Casino significantly boosted tourism on the island. He said that in attracting the Marriott, St. Kitts and Nevis was able to benefit from the resort’s multi-lingual marketing which spans the globe.
The Marketing Manager also quoted Chuck Kelly, a top executive of the Marriott Brand who said: "We see a certain uniqueness in St. Kitts and we want to marry that with the Marriot Brand."
Mr. Hamilton stated that the marriage has been a perfect union thus far.
Along with the uniqueness of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Hamilton also cited the importance of monitoring the life cycle of any product for steady and consistent growth, as being another factor employed by the Authority which has contributed to the success of the St. Kitts and Nevis Tourism product.
He went on to advise the Barbados local tourism authorities to focus on customer service as well as look at consumer trends and provide the means for consumers to give feedback.
Such timely advice may have been the reason that the Advocate’s article on Mr. Hamilton was aptly entitled: "Barbados can follow St. Kitts’ example."
