~~Adz:Left~~ (Port-of- Spain, Trinidad) --- While most students at the University of the West Indies (UWI) travel to their place of origin for the Christmas vacation, many such as Amanda Headley originally from St. Michael, Barbados stay in Trinidad to experience local culture.
Ms. Headley is currently in her second year at UWI and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in the field of Civil Engineering and is eagerly anticipating her stay in Trinidad for Christmas.
“I have never experienced Christmas in Trinidad and I am excited. The people where I am staying have planned a number of events for me to attend. Partying is a very uplifting part of Trinidad culture. The parties lift my spirits because I am far from home and it can help to alleviate my homesickness”, said Headley during an interview with SKNVibes.com.
Ms. Headley will be staying in the southern part of Trinidad where she may experience cultural elements of Christmas in Trinidad such as local cuisine, parang and early morning worship.
