Rawle Brancker, chairman of the ICC West Indies Cricket World Cup 2007 Inc.
Basseterre, St. Kitts October 08, 2004):
St. Kitts and Nevis has received official word from the Cricket World Cup 2007 Inc. Board of Directors to commence preparations to stage matches for the historic event.

The "Notice to Proceed" follows the recent staging of Venue Summit III in St. Kitts where the board reviewed the stadium designs and operational plan of the eight host venues.

In a press release from the ICC Cricket World Cup(CWC) 2007, Managing Director and CEO, ICC CWC WI 2007 Inc, Chris Dehring noted "We have seen commitment and a great deal of progress from all of the countries since the first Overlay Meeting in Kingston during the first week of August."

"In order to award the "Notice to Proceed", the Venue Development Department studied the stadium design plans and collaborated with each LOC on design changes to meet the requirements of the ICC, Global Cricket Corporations ( GCC) and CWC 2007 Inc before the construction phase." Dehring explained.

The release also featured comments from Venue Development Director, Donald Lockerbie who described the work of the LOC’s and their stadium design teams collectively as "an excellent team in the making."

"The LOC’s have some of the best architects in the region and some of the top sports architects in the world contracted to design state-of-the-art venues with the vital input of the knowledge of the game from cricket experts in each host country." Lockerbie noted.

The "Notice to Proceed" was sent to all of the host venues namely Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago and St. Kitts and Nevis. Grenada, which was ravaged by Hurricane Ivan last month received a conditional "Notice to Proceed."

St. Kitts and Nevis has repeatedly come into high praise for its excellent bid and professionalism displayed during this process. At a recent ground breaking ceremony at Warner Park, Rawle Brancker, chairman of the ICC WI CWC 2007 Inc. said there was never a doubt that the Federation would be chosen as a host venue. He has since congratulated St. Kitts and Nevis for hosting Venue Summit III and has expressed appreciation to everyone who made the meeting a success.
