BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EACH year as the ‘Clash Of The High Schools’ competition comes along the question is asked, “Which High school is the most talented in St. Kitts?” However, this year the question to be asked is, “Which school will end Washington Archibald High School’s winning streak?”
On October 29th,, at Carnival Village, Island Soul Entertainment (ISE) will present the third staging of the Annual Clash of the High Schools Song and Dance Competition, which usually sees hundreds of students flooding the park to support their school with loud cheers and applause.
This year Basseterre High School, Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Saddlers Secondary School, Verchilds High School, Cayon High School and the Charles E Mills Secondary School will go up against Washington Archibald High School as they defend their two consecutive wins.
According to Cheddi Bradshaw of ISE, as they present the competition once again in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, their focus on the youth is with the ultimate goal of nation building.
He said Clash of the High Schools has been an avenue through which youths may foster discipline, confidence, camaraderie and other virtues which would prepare them for future roles as leaders in the federation.
‘Clash of the High Schools’ is an elimination-style talent competition in which all the High Schools compete for the title of ‘Most Talented High School’.
The Schools will compete in two categories - song and dance, for two rounds. After the first round, the schools with the lowest scores will be eliminated from the competition, leaving the top three to compete for the title.
