Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 11, 2004): Excitement was rampant this weekend as political parties took to the streets with new vigour following the announcement of General Elections by Prime Minister Hon. Dr Denzil Douglas on Thursday.

The elections which are set for October 25th catalysed tremendous response from the three political parties including the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, The United National Empowerment Party and the People’s Action Movement all of which will contest the elections.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr Denzil Douglas opened up his strategic plan and his party’s programmes to date to scrutiny when he held a "post announcement" press conference on October 8th.

The Prime Minister said that this was all part of his party’s policy of transparency.

The announcement officially dissolved the parliament and nomination day is set for Friday October 15th.
