United States, Cuba and Taiwan congratulate St. Kitts and Nevis on Independence 28

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 15th, 2011 (CUOPM) – The United States has joined other nations in extending congratulations to St. Kitts and Nevis on the 28th Anniversary of Independence.

     

    United States Secretary of State, the Honourable Hilary Clinton in a message on behalf of United States President, the Honourable Barack Obama said the United States and St. Kitts and Nevis have worked together on many issues of mutual importance.

     

    “Together we are helping to advance democracy, protect human rights, and expand economic opportunities for more people. Our partnership through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative is enhancing the security and prosperity of the region, and we appreciate the continued leadership Saint Kitts and Nevis has shown in our common efforts to promote citizen safety throughout the Caribbean,” Mrs. Clinton said in her message.

     

    She added: “As Saint Kitts and Nevis leads CARICOM into the next year, we look forward to deepening our partnership on our shared goals to promote regional security and stability, widen opportunity and prosperity, and strengthen democratic governance and the rule of law across the region.

     

    As you celebrate this special day with family, friends and loved ones, I wish all citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis a safe and joyous Independence Day.”

     

    President of the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Raul Castro in a message to St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas in his congratulatory message “resolve to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation existing between our two counties.”

     

    Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in messages to Governor General His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Sam Condor extended cordial congratulations.

     

    Premier of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Wu Den-yih in extending greetings to St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said he “firmly believes that under your inspiring leadership, the friendly relations and close cooperation that exist between our two countries will continue to grow in the years to come.”
