HERO, KIM COLLINS wins third silver medal in  Dubnica, Slovakia

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts. YESTERDAY, September 15 2011, Kim Collins once again raised the flag of St. Kitts Nevis high when he won his third silver medal in weeks at an International Meet. This time it was in Dubnica. Slovakia.

Kim Collins (10.07 seconds) was second behind Richard Thompson of Trinidad (10.05 seconds) ahead of Michael Frater (10.09) and Dwain Chambers (10.10).

It was the biggest one day meet in Slovakia, the 9th Athletics Bridge in Dubnica and it attracted a total 17 medalists from the Daegu World Championships from South Korea.

A full stadium of over 5000 spectators celebrated the 9th edition of the Athletics Bridge (EA Classic) meeting with records falling in 8 out of 13 events yesterday (15).

Kim came up against the likes of Jamaica’s 4x100m world record holder and world champion Michael Frater, Dwaine Chambers of Great Britain, and Trinidad’s Richard Thompson, who has clocked a national record of 9.85 this year.

In the previous encounter in Zaggreb, Croatia just last week, Collins placed second to Usain Bolt of Jamaica, who ran a record breaking 9.85 seconds, just 0.02 seconds ahead of the same Richard Thompson from Trinidad and Tobago.

In 2003, Kim Collins became the World’s Fastest Man when he won the 100M at the World Championships in France. Today he is being hailed as the World’s Most Consistent Champion as well as the oldest athlete to medal in World Championship Meets.

In this year alone, Colliins, 35, has become the two time bronze medalist at the World Championships and the three time silver medalist in International Championships in Europe.

Thanks to Kim Collins the country of St. Kitts and Nevis has become a familiar name on the world scene.

On this Heroes day, we shout THREE CHEERS FOR KIM COLLINS. His country is extremely proud of him. Long may he reign!!
