~~Adz:Left~~{Basseterre; St. Kitts} A quick response from the Basseterre Fire and Rescue Services Unit was enough to save a dwelling place from being totally consumed by flames.
SKNVibes understands that at about 11:05 last evening, a report was placed at the Basseterre Fire Department which informed them that a two-storey concrete structure located at Prickley Pear Alley was on fire.
When the unit arrived on the scene, it observed smoke coming from the said structure. SKNVibes sources state that a bedroom at the back of the house on the ground floor was on fire.
Sources further informed that members of the unit gained entry to the house by forcing through a glass window which also led to the room which was ablaze.
In a matter of minutes, the unit contained and extinguished the blaze.
SKNVibes understands that two children, a 13 year old boy and a seven year girl, were in the house when the fire began but managed to escape unscathed.
Sources also suggest that a lighted candle may have started the fire.
This was the first fire reported for the year.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
