(Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) --- “Life is not static and if you don’t stretch your limits you can never grow into your full potential.” These were the words of 20 year old Claudia Liburd who is making her mark on the University of the West Indies (UWI) through her pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the field of Communication Studies.

A Trinidad and Tobago national, Ms. Liburd began her secondary education at Saint Joseph’s Convent in St. Joseph, Trinidad, before migrating t to Nevis in 2000 where she completed her secondary education at the Charlestown Secondary School.

In 2003, she went on to the Charlestown Sixth Form College where she pursued studies in Mathematics, Literature in English, Caribbean Studies and Communication Studies.

In the wake of her tenure at the Charlestown Sixth Form College, Ms. Liburd sought employment in the media and was employed at a popular local newspaper.

After working as a teacher for the Nevis Island Administration from 2006-2007 Ms. Liburd decided to advance her education and pursue tertiary level studies in the field of Communication Studies at the UWI.

“I chose this field of study due to my career path. Since I have been in Sixth Form I have been working with the media and I find it to be a very fulfilling career. You meet such a wide range of people and you are able to touch their lives in a very special way,” Claudia noted.

“You hear some very interesting stories and the small things in life just fade into the background. You experience their success, joy and even share their tears. Everyday working in the media is a new experience and my interest in Communication Studies stems from a desire to be the best at what I do”, said Ms. Liburd, while speaking to SKNVibes.com.

While Liburd said that the experience at UWI is challenging, she described it as fulfilling and worthwhile.

“UWI life has been a blur since I’ve been here. I’ve been bombarded with so much information that it’s unbelievable. In high school you learn maybe a chapter in a couple weeks to a month.

At UWI every session at every course is a chapter of reading, plus extra readings, essays and everything imaginable. While it’s challenging, I love every moment of it because it takes me to that next level of development. You can’t grow if you don’t stretch”, continued Liburd.

Employed at SKNVibes.com for the past year Liburd is a proud member of the team and says her experiences are avenues that help her personal grow.

“For every day that I have been employed at SKNVibes.com I have learnt something new. It has been such a learning experience working with the team.

I am not only more proficient in what I do for the site but also in my life I have a new outlook on my interpersonal relationships as well as my education.  ~~Adz:Left~~

“In closing I just want to express my appreciation for the opportunity that they have afforded me and say thanks to the entire team as well as our readers for their love and support. I would also like to publicly thank the Most High Lord for bringing me to this place in my life and for blessing me with people in my life who have shown me unconditional love and support.”
