Mr. Richardson, displays the injuries he receieved
    Basseterre, St. Kitts:
Police are investigating a robbery that left Melford “Bar” Richardson, a security guard of Sandy Point, wounded.  The incident happened early Saturday morning at around 12:15. As a result of the robbery, the security officer was involved in a heated physical battle with his assailants.

Richardson received injuries, above his rib cage and on his right hand, as a result of his assailant (s) stabbing him but the injuries have been classified as non life threatening.

In an interview with SKNVibes, Richardson explained that while he was escorting 3 of his Chinese employers to their home in Cleverly Hill two masked assailants came up from behind them.

“They told us stick it up and we stood up.  When I turned around it was two masked men, one had a gun and the other one had a knife” explained Mr. Richardson.

“After I realized how the one with the gun was holding it, I ‘kinda’ ease up towards him and grabbed the gun,” he added.

His employers ran off but a struggle ensued between Richardson and the robbers. During the struggle, four shots were discharged by one of the assailants but fortunately none caught Richardson.

“He fired about 3 shots in the air and one to my side but I was not shot,” said the security guard,
“But the one with the knife was shouting at me to let go of the one with the gun and that is how I got stabbed because I wouldn’t let go,” he revealed.

“The masked man with the gun ran behind the Chinese men after he realized I was stabbed and he managed to get the money they had because while they were running they were dropping the money in the road,” Richardson further explained.

Richardson was treated at the JNF General Hospital and was later discharged.

The Police have two men in custody assisting them in their investigation.
