BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 7TH 2008 (CUOPM)
    – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will be the Guest on the first edition of VON Radio’s “Let’s Talk” Programme for 2008 on Tuesday night.

Host of the popular talk show, Mr. Everad “Webbo” Herbert told the Communication’s Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM) early Tuesday that Prime Minister Douglas will be his guest on the two-hour programme.

“It starts at 8 ‘o’ clock and following my introduction, Prime Minister Douglas will give opening remarks. As host I will, in the second segment, engage him in a one-on-one. Calls from listeners will be taken in segment three, following which the Prime Minister will be allowed to wrap up,” said Herbert, VON Radio’s General Manager.

"Let’s Talk" heard every Tuesday night has been dubbed “your voice in the community - Talk that Gets Results.” It discusses wide ranging issues from Religion to Politics to Socio-economic issues - anything that concerns the community.

“Prime Minister Douglas’ appearance on the “Let’s Talk” Programme on VON Radio is yet another avenue afforded to our nationals and residents to question, to seek clarification, to get information and more importantly to express their own concerns and provide suggestions to the St. Kitts and Nevis leader on the many issues and challenges facing the twin-island Federation,” said Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Mr. Erasmus Williams. ~~Adz:Right~~

Mr. Williams touted several initiatives of the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration to consult with the electorate and keep the general public adequately informed of decisions taken by government on their behalf.

These initiatives include the Prime Minister’s Monthly Press Conference, the annual “Face to Face,” allowing members of the public and interest groups to send in written comments, suggestions and concerns following the First Reading of proposed legislation and prior to the Second and Debate in the National Assembly; the radio-television programme “National Echo,” the transformation of the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS) and the establishment of the Communication’s Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM).

There are also several websites including SKNIS’ www.gov.kn and the Prime Minister’s website www.cuopm.org, which disseminates information via new innovations about events and developments in the Office of the Prime Minister, as well as the various Ministries and Departments under his portfolios.

CUOPM brings important and select events as they happen, live to members of the media – local, regional, and international - and Kittitians and Nevisians at home and abroad - in the form of audio, video and text. The website is http://www.cuopm.org, www.cuopm.net or www.cuopm.com.

SKNIS also produces SKNBIS Weekender and SKNIS Update on ZIZ Television; Island Issues, Perspectives and SKNIS Express on ZIZ Radio; Press Prep and SKNIS E-Newsletter electronically and the SKNIS Automated Wire (SAW).
