BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (October 17, 2004): The Tourism Authority has announced a date change for Tourism Week on the account of General Elections being held on the second day of the original scheduled Tourism Week.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Mrs. Hilary Wattley, who is also chairperson for the Tourism Week Coordinating Committee, said it became necessary to change the date because it was felt that people would be distracted and Tourism Week activities would not be accorded full attention.
The new date is November 14 to 20, and the week is being held under the theme, "St. Kitts in Splendor, Everyone’s Adventure." Among the features of the fully packed week of activities are tourism presentations in schools, seminars for taxi and bus drivers, workshops on careers in tourism, a food symposium and a workshop on Environmental Best Practices. Also on the calendar of activities is an Awards Banquet that is being organized in recognition of individuals, businesses and institutions that have played significant roles in the country’s tourism development.
The General Public is also invited to participate in the "Tourism Kiddies Kamp," the tourism parade and the Panfest. Further details can be obtained at the offices of the Tourism Authority in the Pelican Mall.
