~~Adz:Left~~ Charlestown, Nevis:  Magistrate Yasmine Clarke yesterday cautioned Wadsworth “Wads” Fergus for insulting Evered “Webbo” Herbert, Manager of VON radio, over the content of a radio talk show.

“See what happens when you disrespect people especially in public...leave politics aside,” Magistrate Clarke told Fergus, who had pleaded guilty to the charge.

Fergus had been accused of using indecent language on Thursday December 6.  According to the Police Prosecutor, Andre’ Mitchell, on the said day, Herbert was standing on the side of the road adjacent to Swannies Bargain Centre, Cedar Trees Charlestown, having a private conversation with a friend, Clinton Swanston, when the incident occurred.

At approximately 11.30 a.m, Wadsworth “Wads” Fergus drove along the main road, heading in a southerly direction, when  he shouted Webbo’s name, to which responded.

“At this point he pulled up the vehicle and parked about 50 feet away, and then advanced towards Webbo with anger, shouting fiery words and derogatory statements,” said the Prosecutor.

“You Webbo, you is to fxxxx bias. You had the Premier on the radio and had Dis and Dat call in and embarrass de man, you is worthless in your mother’s cxxxx and when we done with you will see you in your mother fxxxxxx cxxxxxxxxx you is a crook,” Fergus allegedly said.

According to the Prosecutor Webbo did not respond and Fergus drove off mumbling.

On the following day, December 7, Webbo was talking to another friend, Stuart Jeffers, when again Wads passed by driving along the island main road in a motorcar P 7889. He stayed at a distance of about 100 feet and blurted out “nastiness Webbo,” the Prosecutor revealed.

Shortly after, Officer Walters drove into a gas station nearby and Webbo told him of the two incidents and sought the officer’s advice on how to end Wad’s harassment.

Walters advised Webbo to go to the Police station and to make a report.

After the Prosecutor had presented his case, Fergus told the court that he had since apologised.
“I have known Webbo for a long time. I did not know I offended him that much.  I apologised and told him I am very sorry about it,” he was quoted as saying.

Webbo confirmed that Fergus had apologised.  He, however, said he wanted Fergus to be cautioned in court because he had embarrassed him.
