Hunt for the other still on
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Thanks to the cooperation of members of the public, one of the vehicles which was stolen last weekend, has been recovered.
SKNVibes understands that sometime yesterday (Sept. 20), an anonymous call was made to the Traffic Department indicating that the vehicle which was stolen from The Strip, Frigate Bay, on September 19, was located in the Olivees area.
A search of that area was conducted, sources indicate, and the vehicle, registered as PA6402, was discovered parked near a dirt road in some bushes on a vacant plot of land.
This publication was reliably informed that the vehicle’s front windscreen was smashed, the driver’s side window broken and the left side of the rear bumper was torn off.
The vehicle (a white Toyota, Corolla with spoiler and sunroof), prior to being heisted, was parked on The Strip by the owner and after misplacing the keys to vehicle, travelled to his home to retrieve the spare. According to police sources, when he returned to the area where his vehicle was parked, the vehicle was missing.
Police are, however, still making investigations in an attempt to locate the other vehicle which was stolen, also from The Strip, on September 17.
The vehicle, a green Mitsubishi Lancer registered as P2375 was parked next to ‘Mr. X’ on the Strip at about 1:00 that morning. The owner reportedly returned to the vehicle approximately 12 hours later to find that it was not there.
The incident was reported to the police and investigations into the disappearance began.
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has expressed gratitude to the public for its assistance in locating the Toyota and would appreciate any forthcoming assistance.
Investigations, however, into both incidents, continue and persons with information are asked to contact the nearest police station.
