~~Adz:Left~~ Basseterre, St. Kitts:  special sitting of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC) was held in St. Kitts yesterday to mark the retirement of Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Sir Brian George Alleyne SC, KCN.

Douglas, members of the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party Cabinet, the Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition Bench in the House of Parliament, Mark Brantley, and President of the St. Kitts/Nevis Bar Association, Dr. Vernon Veira, as ell as many other dignitaries and well wishers.

In a fitting sendoff, members of the law-fraternity spoke of the many accomplishments of His Lordship and expressed their appreciation to him for the patience and wisdom he demonstrated during and before his stint with the ECSC.

Alleyne, in response to the many accolades bestowed upon him, thanked all for their kind words and sincere expressions.  He gave special thanks to several persons with whom he has come in contact with throughout his life, without whom, he explained, he would not have been who he is and would not be who he is today.

In delivering finals words of thanks, Sir Alleyne appealed for continued support for the ECSC in upcoming years.
In 1996, Sir Alleyne was appointed High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.  He was later elevated to the post of Justice of Appeals and was further elevated to Acting Chief Justice, a position which he now holds.

Sir Alleyne’s retirement from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court is scheduled to take effect sometime in April, of this year.
