14 new matters on list for September Criminal Assizes 2011

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AMONG the 34 cases listed for the September 2011 Criminal Assizes before His Lordship Justice Errol Thomas, there were 14 new matters with three persons pleading guilty to their crimes. George Archibald who was charged with wounding with intent of Christopher Fyfield pleaded guilty at his arraignment on Sep. 22.

     

    The incident occurred on February 8, 2011 at New Road.
    Josh Carey and Valentine Eddy were jointly charged with housebreaking and larceny on April 13, 2011 at the Conaree home of Winston DeFreitas.

     

    Among the number of items they stole were a laptop, cell phone and a hunting knife to the total value of EC$6,984 00. A date will be announced when their sentencing by his Lordship will take place.

     

    The other new matters all rendered not guilty pleas and were those of Jamal Phillip and Charles Bowry who were both jointly charged with rape on February 19, 2011 in Basseterre.
    The two allegedly had sexual intercourse with a certain female without her consent.

     

    Akeem Christopher and Curtis Isaac were jointly charged with building breaking and larceny at Evelyn’s Grouping, located at the Paul Southwell Industrial Site.

     

    They stole a number of items totaling EC$351. 95 and among the items were a microphone, a khaki pant and 18 CD’s.

     

    Akiel Warner and Glenville Isaac are also jointly charged with two counts of robbery where they were armed with a knife and both incidents occurring on November 20, 2010.

     

    The first count occurred at Station Street, Old Road where they stole a number of items worth EC$1,001 from a certain individual while they also stole two phones valuing EC$680 belonging to another individual.

     

    Chadin Buchanan also faces robbery charges where it is alleged that on November 27, 2010, in Sandy Point he was armed with a firearm and robbed Alexander Warner of EC$200.

     

    There are two other sexual related matters listed among the new cases, Sherwin Sammy Williams charged with indecently assaulting a certain female in Sandy Point while Renelle Edwards is charged with Unlawful Carnal Knowledge with a 14 year-old girl occurring sometime between June 1 and July 8, 2010 in Tabernacle.

     

    Clive Grant is being charged with possession of housebreaking implements occurring on January 22, 2011 in Basseterre.

     

    He was found with a crowbar, screwdriver and a multifunctional tool during some time in the night.
    Grant also faces another charge of burglary, occurring on January 21, 2011 in Basseterre when it is alleged he stole a Sony Ericsson phone worth EC$700, 00 from a home.

     

    Exzavier Elliott, Jervain Rawlins and Phillip Jones are all facing two counts of armed robbery charges and each of them is charged with assault with intent to rob.

     

    The incidents all occurred on July 5, 2010 in Halfway Tree where they were armed and robbed Tamar Southwell of EC$2,350, 55.

     

    The second count of robbery also occurred on the same date and venue but this time they are charged with robbing a man of EC$10.

     

    Elliot, Rawlins and Jones were also each charged with assault with intent to rob Jeneve Evans also on the same date and location.

     

    Donley Saunders was charged with fraudulent conversion occurring between July 7, 2007 and May 20, 2008 in Basseterre.

     

    Akeem Christopher and Curtis Isaac are facing another charge of building breaking and larceny occurring on November 12, 2010, this time the incident occurred at the Basseterre Fisheries Complex where the stole a number of items valuing EC$3,819, 54.

     

    Allister Forde also pleaded not guilty to the charge of shooting at Troy McDonald with intent on December 21, 2010 in Godwin Ghut.

     

    A total of 20 other cases were also added to make up the September Criminal Assizes 2011 list. They were traversed from the last sitting of the Basseterre High Court.
