BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT was all smiles with a hint of surprise when Akilah Wilson was announced Kajola Kristada Ltd’s Employee of the Month for August.
Employed at the company since November 2005, The Super Trap Line Notcher told SKNVibes that she was shocked and very surprised when got the award as she never expected to win.
She however explained that she is very pleased with the win and she feels good to know that she is deemed Employee of the Month material.
The first time winner said that sometimes she would experience difficulty, but she would try to do her best and she would tell herself that she can do it.
Wilson’s Supervisor explained that she [Wilson] was chosen because she is the most improved employee right now, especially in attendance.
She said that Wilson’s efficiency is good and her quality is outstanding, noting that Wilson is the one who does the repairing to make the customer’s orders on time.
Production’s Manager at Kajola said that Wilson is always smiling. She is very good at repairing and she is the most pleasant employee, she added. She further explained that one can call on Wilson at any time and she would be there, and she is always willing to participate in any activity.
In a previous interview with SKNVibes, Human Resource Manager Malvie James said the monthly awards started four years ago and the idea was initiated to show the employees that their hard work and efforts were appreciated.
She said that the General Manager, José Rosa, is instrumental in making sure that the employees are recognised and duly awarded.
Each Supervisor chooses one employee from their line. The company’s Employee of the Month Steering Committee chooses the overall winner based on a number of categories including efficiency, attendance, quality, safety, friendliness, and versatility.
Wilson would like to thank Kajola Kristada Ltd. She would especially like to thank her Supervisor whom she said is always behind her encouraging her to do her best.
Kajola-Kristada Ltd. is owned by the Mezzalingua family in Syracuse, New York and first opened its doors on May 5, 1999. The main product manufactured by the company is CATV Traps, which are small cylindrical electronic devices that are fitted into Cable TV wires to allow Cable TV subscribers to see certain channels or block those to which the customer does not subscribe.
