    Basseterre, St. Kitts (November 02, 2004): Senator and Minister of State in Office of the Prime Minister Hon. Ricky Skerritt has received congratulations from the members of the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007 Inc on his recent appointment.

     

    Mr. Skerritt was sworn in as a member of Cabinet and given responsibility for Tourism, Sports and Culture on Saturday, October 30.

     

     

    "We wish to congratulate our colleague for this tremendous honour and for his new position and responsibility for three major sectors of government," the ICC’s Venue Development Director Donald Lockerbie wrote.

     

     

    "As Minister of Sports, he will undoubtedly remain committed to the success we envisage for St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as continue his positive influence throughout the region as a political figure."

     

     

    Hon. Ricky Skerritt. served as team manager for the West Indies Cricket Team from March 2000 to June 2004. He was instrumental in the CWC bid process that won St. Kitts the Orange Package and the right to host first round matches of defending champions Australia. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the local CWC organising committee.
