BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 28th 2011 (CUOPM) – Lawmakers will begin debate on 12 bills when the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly convenes on Thursday. Nine of the Bills will be introduced and given their First Reading, while three were introduced at earlier sittings.
Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will introduce and seek legislative support at Thursday’s Sitting for The Stamps (Amendment) Bill, The Duty Free Shops (Licensing and Taxation) (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, The Tax Administration and Procedures (Amendment) Bill, The Condominium (Amendment) Bill, The Saint Christopher and Nevis vacation Plan and Timeshare (Amendment) Bill, The St. Kitts (Planned Community) (Amendment) Bill and The Confidential Relationships (Amendment) Bill.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Hon. Patrice Nisbett will introduced and have read a first time, The Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) Bill.
This Bill, along with the Evidence Bill which was introduced and had its first reading on October 26th 2010 and the Magistrate Code of Procedure (Amendment) Bill, which was introduced and given its first reading on 12th August 2011, will also be debated during the current sitting.
Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Agriculture, Marine Resources and Co-operatives and Constituency Empowerment, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, will introduce and have read a first time, The Dogs (Amendment) Bill. This Bill, along with The Co-operative Societies Bill, which had its introduction and first reading on March 17th, will also be debated.
