~~Adz:Left~~ (Basseterre, St. Kitts):  “You attacked a totally innocent person who did you a kind deed” those were the words of His Lordship Justice Francis Belle just minutes before he sentenced 22-year-old Vernon Richardson to five years imprisonment with hard labor earlier today January 24th.

Richardson pleaded guilty to “Wounding with Intent,” the incident took place on April 21st of 2007 in the New Road area, when according to Jovil Taylor she stopped and gave Richardson a “lift” in her car because she knew him and had given him a “lift” before.  After driving off Richardson pulled her (Jovil) hair and held a sharp object to her neck and demanded that she be quiet and not say anything.

Taylor however managed to stick her head out of her car window and shouted “HELP! this man trying to rape me” but unfortunately none of the passing vehicles stopped.  Taylor in the process received a five centimeter superficial laceration at the back of her neck.

Richardson did not deny the facts of the case, he further asked his Lordship to be lenient on him because, it was just a misunderstanding that went wrong and he did not intend to hurt anyone.

His lordship however told Richardson that he thinks the best place for him is prison as he has a number of convictions.
