Hearts and Hands of Nevis to mark 10th anniversary in Nevis in 2009

Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry meets with Nevisians abroad

Charlestown, Nevis: US based Hearts and Hands of Nevis will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Nevis in the summer of 2009; said the organisation’s President Vicki Anslyn, in a press statement.
Former Nevis Premier, Mr. Vance Amory and, businessman Ken Evelyn were among the award recipients. Premier of Nevis Hon. Joseph Parry gave the feature address during the 9th annual luncheon held on Sunday January 20th at the Crowne Plaza, New York.
In his feature address, Hon. Parry called on Nevisians living abroad to be involved in the sustainable development of Nevis, “We have to educate and train our people now. We have to look to you, not only to be part of the development process by coming home, but by giving regular information with regard to early economic trends, by investing in our programmers and businesses at home and identifying investors and markets that Nevis can exploit.” Parry said.
Opposition leader, Mr. Mark Brantley was also in attendance along with over 350 US based Nevisians. The luncheon was held two days after the Hearts and Hands of Nevis President, Vicki Anslyn, had lost a niece, Miss Valencia Robinson, in a fatal accident. She is the daughter to an eminent Nevisian artist and body builder Vaughn Anslyn.
Vicki Anslyn was commended for coordinating a successful event while mourning her niece. ~~Adz:Right~~
The weekend kicked off with a panel discussion in the Bronx focusing on the topic of wealth building. Another major highlight was the “Kaiso” show, organised by Mr. Bernard Myers which was described as a show of high standard by Calypso fans. The Junior Calypso, King Inspirer entertained the crowd, while audience was excited and refreshed to by a performance from King Ellie Matt.
Other performers included King Dis N Dat and King Meeko, Nevis folklore dancers, masquerades and poets graced the luncheon.
