Charlestown Nevis: The body of Valencia Robins who died recently in a motor accident was laid to rest on Friday at the Bath Cemetery after a solemn church service held at the Methodist church.
Hundreds of mourners from all walks of life and backgrounds, including students turned out in large numbers to pay their last homage to Valencia. Her parents are Claire Robins and Vaughn Anslyn.
Tributes revealed that she was a goal oriented visionary girl. At a youthful age, Valencia had already set her goals and she was pursuing them wholeheartedly. “She had already planned her life,” “Valencia had the right people around her to prop her to reach her goals had she lived” her grandfather Arthur Anslyn said.
Tributes during the church service revealed Valencia’s enthusiasm in life, creativity, hard working and willing spirit were characteristics she had embraced well that would have made her an outstanding career journalist.
Her uncle, Frank Clarke, a Guidance Counselling; passionately described Valencia’s attributes which he hoped other youth would emulate. Her aunt, Vicki Anslyn-Pemberton also described Valencia as an inspiration to her relatives living abroad whenever they visited Nevis.
Tributes described Valencia to have been loving, kind obedient, hard working, enthusiastic, willing, radiant, pleasant, helpful, meek, clean, neat and well organised.
Her former school, Charlestown Primary School, remembered her through a tribute compiled by Cavelle Caines, “Valencia was always courteous and respectful to her peers and teachers alike.” Academically, Valencia applied herself to her schoolwork, nowhere was this more evident than in 2006 when she emerged with six (6) CSEC subjects, with distinctions in English and Office Administration. She emerged with the best results in her form.
Valencia had great respect for God and hence became a member of the Emmaus Church, in Charlestown. Valencia embraced values instilled in her by parents, relatives, church and school and excelled in all areas of her life. Her Pastor, Theophelus Kelly said the death of Valencia was the worst thing that has happened in his church.
